Samantha has developed walumarra studio, a Wiradyuri design practice which specialises in areas of designing with Country, design, research, masterplanning, advisory and project management services.

Her design methodology is shaped by Wiradyuri philosophies of thinking, being and knowing which ensure the process follows appropriate protocols and practices.

The practice name ‘ Walumarra’ is a Wiradjuri word that translates to protect, and act as a Custodian. This word reflects the design process; embedding an Indigenous way of thinking, being and acting into the work that we do. It’s about thinking and acting in a way which carries with care, and respect the Cultural Knowledge and stories that is shared by communities in the design process.

Walumarra is also about always thinking of Country and how we can continuously care and act in a reciprocal way to ensure that she is cared for now and in the future.
